Video Work

Electric Bodies

Electric Bodies is a series of eight poetry cycles by Allan Sutherland taken from the transcripts of oral history interviews with practitioners from within the Disability Arts Movement produced for the D4D research project, led by Bath Spa University and Accentuate. Within the context of the project the aim is to examine aspects of disabled artists lives that give voice to some of the main concerns of disability arts as a movement and genre.
D4D is a research programme that has been investigating the evolving ways in which we as disabled people express, perform, experience and practise ‘community’. Funded by the AHRC’s Connected Communities stream, D4D consists of a number of different contributing projects exploring diverse areas such as robotics, the arts, education, employment, genetics and gaming.

I was commissioned to produce four animations based on lines taken from multiple poems within several of the poetry cycles, read by Alan Sutherland and using drawings by Colin Hambrook.

Electric Bodies contains some swearing.

Social Anxiety

I made a short video piece attempting to capture some of the feelings I associate with anxiety. It won't be how everyone perceives it and this isn't exactly what I 'saw' when it struck, it is a representation of how it felt. It is best viewed with the sound turned up fairly loud but it is a bit uncomfortable on the ears, and deliberately so. There is nothing comfortable about anxiety.
